A Beachbody Coach acheivement: Running an Ultramarathon

Do you like running?

I personally love running. I run regularly with my husband.

I'm doing this because I have my husband's full support.
He has mine, too. That is why we can do this together.

We started small, but now: Guess what?
We are going to run the Florida Keys Ultramarathon.
Our very first Ultramarathon!

I had never really been in to exercise classes. I just used to walk and jog in order to stay in shape.

But, when I became Beachbody coach I and started their fitness programs I toned up and I managed to increase mileage and start running, not just jogging.

By now I have tried
  • Yoga Ballet
  • 10 minute Trainer
  • Toni and the Kids
  • P90X

For now, the P90X helped me and my husband the most, as we followed Beachbody's advice for combining Running and P90X. You can find them here.

However, We decided to start Insanity program, because we are now more physically fit and it can keep us more confident to be able to take the Ultra marathon Challenge.

Haven't heard of an Ultramarathon?

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An ultramarathon, also called ultra distance, is any sporting event involving running and walking longer than the traditional marathon length of 42.195 kilometers (26.219 mi).

There are two types of ultramarathon events:

  • those that cover a specified distance, and
  • events that take place during specified time (with the winner covering the most distance in that time).

The most common distances are 50 kilometres (31.069 mi), 100 kilometres (62.137 mi), 50 miles (80.4672 km), and 100 miles (160.9344 km), although many races have other distances. The 100 kilometers is recognized as an official world record event by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), the world governing body of track and field.

We are running next weekend (15-16 May 2015) the Ultra Marathon in Florida.

The race is a point-to-point event beginning in Key Largo--Marathon, for the 50 mile race and Big Pine Key for the 50 Km race--and ending in Key West on the Atlantic Ocean at Higgs Beach.

It is held for the 8th time
, and KEYS100 (the name of the race) includes different competitions:

  • Individual races of 100 miles,
  • 50 miles and 50 kilometers,
  • Florida Keys six runner 100 mile team relay race.

In the individual races, runners may compete with a support crew or without.

Read more about it here:

This is the route map for the race

Just one week away, and will be on the way to Florida Keys for a 100 mile run. Looking forward to having fun in the sun!

And for our Biggest supporters coming with us

Who do you think that is?

No doubt, our two beautiful cocker-spaniels: Princie and Coachie

Princie & Coachie climbing up the path on stepping stones.

Princie taking a rest break from his long run on the trails. He seems to be laughing to himself, as he lay on the fresh, lush grass of Springtime. I love my little boy!

Coachie is having the time of his life in Grape Vine Lake, Texas. A Perfect 10 Along the Beach! Love my boy!

We both have our little ones support and encouraging. They are accompanying us even though they don't have to and they are our constant support.

Have you ever run a Marathon?

If yes, please share your experiences with us in comments, so that we know what to expect.

If no, you can start exercising and getting ready for your next race with one of Beachbody's programs and of course my support and coaching.

Choose according to your needs

And, of course, wish us luck.
